Two Hills Road fours went to the Bedford Sprint Regatta as a warm-up for bumps, and acquitted themselves well against opposition from Marlow RC, Milton Keynes RC and the Star Club in the Novice 4+ category.
The crew of Matthew Haynes, Cameron Brown, James O’Dell and Oscar Freund-Williams, with Hannah Laurenson-Schafer coxing, reached the final where they raced against the Marlow crew who had knocked out their fellow Hills Road rowers in a close-fought semi-final. The Haynes crew won with the fastest time recorded of the category, some 4.5 lengths ahead of the Marlow crew.
