Cambridge Regatta 2017

On the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend, Cantabs hosted the Cambridge Regatta. This year it was attended by 70 crews, racing in the glorious sunshine, with a good level of competition in all events. The regatta was attended by both town and college clubs, as well as clubs from across the Cambridgeshire region.

The new Abbotts Prestige Junior Challenge Cup was won by Cantabs junior Robert Almqvist in the J16.1x, beating a Huntingdon RC sculler in the morning time trials by just 1 second. There were also wins for Cantabs Juniors in J16.8x+, J14.1x, J18.1x, W1x and J16.2x. You can read more about Cantabs’ partnership with Abbotts here.

Additionally, 4 girls from the Cantabs Junior Performance Squad raced with 4 of the Senior Women in the W8+, aiming to bring women from different squads together, and providing the junior rowers with an opportunity to learn from the more experienced athletes in the club.
