CRA Bumps 2015 – Day 3 – Cantabs Women staying strong

Cantabs women carried strong performances into the third night of bumps, with seven crews advancing up the bumps table and only one conceding a bump.

In Division Hills Belles (W10) rowed over behind Flotsam & Jetsum (W9). Emma Dalrymple describes F&J’s row:

With the dodgy starts and nerve induced crab-catching out of the way in Day 1 and 2, Day 3 made for F & J’s smoothest row of the Bumps. With the help of an excellent bank party pushing out and our brilliant Cox Colette spurring us on, we pulled away from our chasers without a whistle to be heard (those 16-18 year olds never stood a chance against such [life] experience!). Despite not Bumping for the third night we came away proud of our row and ready to gun for some green headgear on Friday!

The Women’s Juniors (W8) put in another strong row to make their second bump of the week, catching 99s 6 before First Post Corner.

Racks Out (W7) bumped Chesterton 3. Darcy Weaver writes:

Tracey steered tight and we bumped them just before Ditton corner. We’re on for blades against Radegund 2 who are on for spoons.

At the top of Division Three, Hills Girls (W6) rowed over to be Sandwich Boat in Division Two, where they bumped Chesterton 3 at the A14 bridge.

The Dev Squad (W5) continued to climb Division Two, with a bump on Champs 6 near the A14 bridge.

Further up Division Two, G-Ora-geous (W4) were bumped by Champs 4 at Ditton Corner.

IMG_7733In Division One, W3 continued to execute their simple race plan of “Start, settle to 37/38, bump”, catching Rob Roy 2 before the A14 bridge.

Further up, W2 rowed over behind Rob Roy 1. W1 closed to a length on City, but weren’t able to advance further and City opened out their lead.

Overall, the women’s squad starts Friday with a net gain of 17 places – a really strong performance!
