The day after Fours Head, Petr, James, Hadi and Chris raced as a Masters A 4- in Vets Head. Whilst they did not have their best row, they were declared winners of their category. It was an enjoyable event and proved the concept of following up the main tideway head with a veteran entry the following day, which may well be repeated in the VIII in March.
Back on the Cam, the Senior Women entered a scratch VIII in the Fairbairns Cup. Despite stern pair having never met each other before the race, the crew retained the invitational VIIIs title, and were the second fastest Women’s VIII overall, just 5 seconds behind Downing. Photos are available here.
The Christmas Head was the usual entertaining spectacle, with most crews racing in fancy dress. There are lots of amusing photographs online, including here! The Cantabs Senior Women entered a scratch VIII and posted the fastest women’s time of the day. There were wins for Cantabs in the following categories: Masters E/F 8+, Nov.1x, W.8x+, J15.2x, J14.4x+, W.J14.2x+, W.J14.4x+, J13.2x. Well done to all who took part, and special congratulations to the winners!
