Open Cantabs Men’s Squad Meeting 2012-2013

With the new rowing season getting under way, Cantabs Men’s Squad are going to have an open meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 4th September at Cantabs to discuss the plan for the coming year and to present what we have to offer to any potential new members.

Last year was the most successful ever for the Cantabs Men’s Squad:
– M1 finished 62nd at HoRR (a club record & fastest Cambridge town club)
– The first and second eights raced in the Thames Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta (a first for the club)
– Achieved a silver medal in the lightweight single sculls at the National Rowing Championships
– M1 held headship of town bumps for the 3rd year in a row, with M2 winning blades to move up to 5th on the river (a club record) to be the highest placed 2nd boat

As individuals, we had:
– 8 personal best 2km ergo scores
– Average 6-10 second improvement on 2km test over season for whole squad
– 11 first-time qualifiers for Henley Royal

This year we are starting from a much higher level and retained a good number of athletes from last season (which we started with 5 rowers). We are also already making the necessary steps in training to improve on our personal and squad results for the coming season. We will again be competing at the major events (Jubilee Champs, HOR4s, HoRR, 3 Dorneys, HRR) and will continue to enter races in Cambridge as well.

If you think that you might want to be part of this squad as a rower or a cox, then email Joe Baddeley and if possible come along to the meeting (probably followed by curry/bbq/pub).
