Dear all,
Just a quick email with some updates and news.

Work day 27th February
Please keep this day free in your diary. We will use this day to clean-up and do maintenance to the Cantabs boat house. It’s also a good reason to bring your own thermos and kitchen creations so we can have a bit of a social catch-up and natter amongst ourselves.

Bin Rota
I’m sure you’ll all agree when I say that the rubbish situation at the Cantabs boathouse is terrible with bottles and general rubbish left lying around. As a club we are lucky enough not to pay council tax, but don’t get a bin collection as a result. To fix this, there will be bins placed at the club, there will be a rota where crews will take turns in doing a week each of emptying the bins and taking rubbish home with them. The women’s crews will be responsible for the week commencing 8th March, 3rd May, 28th June, 23rd August. These dates can also be found on the club calendar on the Cantabs website. http://www.cantabsrowing.org.uk/index.php?pid=35

Equipment
Petr Arnold is now the club equipment officer, so if anything happens to a boat while you are using it, please let him know on . Or if you see a problem with a boat and you don’t think it’s been reported, please drop him a line (equipment_officer@cantabsrowing.org.uk). He does have a list of things he is working on, so just be mindful that your request may not be top of the list of priorities and please also try your best not to break any boats. Some of you may have noticed that the erg machines have been given a bit of a service – thanks Petr! The broken displays are currently being looked into and we should be able to replace these shortly.

Racing
Well done to all crews who raced in the first leg of the Winter League. There were some good results with the first boat being the second fastest women’s eight on the day. It was so good to see so many Cantabs women’s boats racing( four VIIIs, a quad and some singles) and I’m looking forward to seeing the improvements of the three legs. For a full set of times, please see this site http://www.cra-online.net/results/2010/results.xls

Dates for the diary
23rd January – Head to head race
6th February – Peterborough Head Race
14th February – Bedford VIIIs and IVs
21st February – Winter League #2
27th February – Boathouse work day
