Race report from 30th Vesta Veterans Head of the River

In lovely sunny conditions on Sunday 18 March both Poachers and Gunning travelled to compete in this year’s Vets Head of the River.  Both crews arrived hoping to have a good time and improve on last year’s results.  Poachers went off 29th (due to being category B) just a few boats in front of the top Vet C crews, several of whom had travelled from Europe so there was quite a mixture of boats, and Gunning set off 225 racing in Novice E.

Both crews were pleased with their rows finishing at 161 and 203.  For any Vet’s crews interested in more off-Cam racing, the social and less formal atmosphere of the event make it a great opportunity to race on the famous Tideway course without the pressures of the main head.
