Cantabs Senior Men: Cantabs have a rapidly growing senior mens squad. The squad contains oarsmen at all levels from Sunday morning rowers to ten sessions a week men. Our top crews race at all the big events and the club has seen strong results in the last couple of years. Highlights include Charlie Palmer's rise from Novice sculler to National Champion over just one Summer and a number of wins by boats across the club at local and national level regattas. Throughout the club we try to keep an enthusiastic approach and regular social events help to keep morale up. There is a range of equipment available for senior men to use, with the higher level oarsmen having access to dedicated boats and more occasional rowers sharing their boat with another crew. A range of new boats purchased in Autumn 2005 gives us everything we need to continue to achieve results at the highest level. Most of the Men's training is based at our new Boathouse near Chesterton footbridge. The location gives us prime access to the stretch of the Cam that is best for training and allows us to avoid river traffic on busy mornings. Our purpose built weights room is well equipped with weights and ergos and provides the focus of our land training. At weekends we arrange off Cam training days to get away and train on wider stretches of river nearby to Cambridge as often as possible. Our coaching team headed by Andy Johnson oversee the devlopment of athletes within the club and make use of a range of technologies to assist with their task. Video sessions are regularly carried out and we are able to make occasional use of the power line rowing instrumentation system (http://www.peachinnovations.com) to analyse all aspects of an oarsmans technique. If you would like to know more about the men's squad or come along to one of our Friday evening 8s outings then email Tom Copeland
