September Results RoundUp

September opened with the Great Ouse Marathon: a 22km race on the River Great Ouse from Denver to Ely, organised by the Isle of Ely Rowing Club.  Six crews entered from Cantabs, in various single scull, double scull and quad categories.  Claire Connon, who has been training with Cantabs under Tom’s coaching also raced as the only Adaptive AS (Arms and Shoulders) rowers.  Simply to finish the course was a significant achievement, and extra congratulations were due to Sue Hakenbeck who won the W.Nov.1x category and to the junior quad who set a record time in W.Nov.4x-.  Special thanks to Phil for heading off to tow the trailer straight after finishing the course – not the ideal recovery activity!  Photos from the day are available here.

The following weekend’s 9’s Autumn Regatta was over-subscribed, and few of our senior crews got the opportunity to participate.  However, 17 crews involving 22 juniors did get the chance to race. Many of crews won their heats and eight crews reached finals.  Congratulations to Eve Beere and Millie Perrin who won both CRA W.Nov 2x and CRA W.J18 2-.
